Putting Christmas Away

My laundry room was crowded with containers waiting to be filled with Christmas decorations.  My goal was to pace myself as I packed them away for another year.  I had overdone it when I brought them out, leaving me exhausted by evening.  This was the third and final day I had worked at removing Christmas.

As I thought about that, the concept of “putting Christmas away” bounced around in my head.

Yes, I was physically removing the nativities, the wreath, the candles and other symbols of the holiday.  At the end of the day, indications I had celebrated Christmas would no longer exist. My mind turned to the world in which we live.  Is that what will happen across our country as the days after Christmas elapse?

Once the tangible symbols are stored away, will the meaning of Christmas be gone too?

A new year awaits us.  As we look forward to our future, I pray we will keep the meaning of Christmas alive in our hearts.  The reason we can have peace in this tumultuous world is because of that little baby.

He grew up.

Let His love renew your faith and warm your heart as you allow Him to help you navigate your way through another year.

“…..I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 (ESV)
