Almost fifty years ago, I discovered a concept new to me called “present moments”. It changed the way I viewed life. Instead of moving like a robot through each day, I trained myself to be aware of what was happening around me, as it occurred. Little things…big things…everything. I was amazed as life lessons unfolded, waiting to be noticed and understood. Perhaps something you read on this site will trigger a life moment for you too..
What I do
I learned to crochet at a young age. Several years ago I grew tired of crocheting, so attended knitting classes. I now alternate between the two as I make afghans for others who are ill, bereaved, retiring or just a friend of a friend. A few years ago I began taking a photograph of each project before I gave it away. The pictures now fill an album.
My husband and I moved to our retirement home thirteen years ago…designed for our old age. Instead of a yard full of flowers (that required a lot of work), I requested this planter be built for me. I can enjoy all the beauty in one spot.
As a Christian, a desire of mine was to travel to the Holy Land. That dream came true in 2015…and again in 2017. As I walked where Jesus walked, saw the hills He mentioned in the Bible, experienced baptism in the Jordan River and visited the empty tomb, my heart overflowed with awe and wonder. And now, as I read my Bible, the words come alive when I remember being there.
