Dress Code

According to Google, the definition of dress code is a set of rules specifying the garb or type of clothing to be worn by a group or by people under specific circumstances.

Over the past few years, the royal family has become a regular in our news, permitting us a bird’s eye view of their type of clothing.  Their dress code is definitely at the high end of what is required for a family to wear.  Even the small children live up to the extraordinary standard of fashion.

Various places of employment expect a certain level of attire, stating their expectations in the Employee Handbook.  If those requirements are not met, the outcome might include being fired from the job.

The military definitely has a strict dress code.  You can tell a member of any armed forces just by the uniform they wear.

Did you know Christ followers also have a dress code?

Colossians 3:12 (Christian Standard Bible) says: “Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

And the highest dress code is in Colossians 3:14 where it tells us: “Above all, put on love….”

This thought caused me to do some deep introspection.  Can others tell I’m a Christ follower by what I’ve put on?  I’ve decided to dress more carefully every day.
