A Sunday school teacher named Edward Kimball (ever heard of him?) led a shoe clerk named D. L. Moody to Jesus. Moody traveled to England and awakened the heart of a young pastor named F. B. Meyer. Meyer came to the United States and helped lead a student named Wilbur Chapman to Christ. Chapman employed an ex-baseball player name Billy Sunday. Sunday became a great evangelist and preached in Charlotte, N.C., along with another evangelist named Mordecai Ham.
Ripples over the years and miles. Mordecai Ham preached the night Billy Graham was saved.
When I read that, I was overwhelmed with the knowledge that I’m initiating ripples wherever I go. So are you. Even though I’ve never heard of Edward Kimball, the ripple that originated with him has affected my life. I’ve sung in Billy Graham’s Crusades. I’ve read his books. His life profoundly touched mine.
We are all creating ripples. We may never see the outcomes of the ripples we generate. But our actions, words and character continue to spread results…good or bad.
What kind of ripples do you generate? Do I?
“I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:23 (NLT)
