I stood at the front window, watching the garbage truck go down the street. It paused beside a garbage can placed at the curb, a fork-like device extended from the side of the truck, picked up the garbage can and lifted it high in the air over the back of the truck. As it was lowered, now upside down, the lid fell open and the contents dumped into the receptacle designed to contain refuse. When the can was emptied, the motion was reversed and the can deposited on the street.
The truck then progressed to the next garbage can and the sequence was repeated. I knew the truck would be back next week to duplicate the process. Lots of refuse is thrown away each week.
My mind shifted to my life. Over the years, I had a lot of garbage collected. But when I became a Christ follower, He gathered up my junk and permanently disposed of it. What a relief.
And He doesn’t show up just once a week. He is there for us, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour…for the rest of our lives.
Have you checked Him out? He’s very reliable.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 (NASB)
So true!
Thanks, Diane.
